Farideh Pourgiv

Farideh Pourgiv is retired professor of English literature, Shiraz University, one of the founding members of Shiraz University Center for Iranian Children’s Literature Studies, Iran and a member of Hafez Studies center for over two decades. She has taught BA, MA and PhD courses on comparative literature, mythology, translation and English literature. She has contributed several entries on Persian novelists in World Novel, 1900 to the Present (2008), three entries on Persian translations of Alice in the Wonderland in Alice in A World of Wonderlands (2015) and coauthored a chapter in The Art of Teaching Persian Literature: From Theory to Practice (August 2024). She is the founder and editor of Persian Literary Studies Journal (plsj.shirazu.ac.ir).

Farzad Baloo

Farzad Baloo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Persian Language and Literature at the University of Mazandaran. His research specializes in the intersection of literature and philosophy, with a particular focus on linguistic and intellectual traditions in Persian literary discourse. 

Baloo has an extensive publication record, including several books, such as Rawshanfikran-i Irani va maʿalah-yi zaban (Iranian Intellectuals and the Issue of Language), and more than 60 research articles in Persian and international journals. He is an active figure in literary and philosophical scholarship, serving as a senior member of the board of directors of the Iranian Literary Criticism Association, the secretary of the Literature and Philosophy Working Group of the Persian Language and Literature Association of Professors, and the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Literary and Philosophical Studies. 

Reza Yaghoubi

Reza Yaghoubi is an Iranian scholar, poet, author, and translator whose work spans multiple disciplines, including philosophy, literature, and translation studies. His publications include scholarly articles, critical essays, original writings, poetry, and numerous translations of major philosophical and humanities texts. 

Yaghoubi is a key contributor to the Encyclopedia of Hafez and Hafez Studies (Nakhestan Parsi Publishing, 2018), where he authored approximately 25 entries under the leadership of Dr. Abdullah Jassbi and the editorial supervision of Baha al-Din Khorramshahi. His contributions include entries on “Hafez’s Ethics,” “Hafez’s Worldview,” “Philosophy in the Divan of Hafez,” “Hafez and Goethe,” and “Aesthetics of Hafez.” 

His research primarily explores the intersections of philosophical thought and literary analysis, with a focus on making significant philosophical and intellectual traditions accessible to Persian-speaking audiences. Among his notable translations are Anthony Kenny’s four-volume History of Philosophy, Elliot Sober’s Core Questions in Philosophy, John Dewey’s Liberalism and Social Action and Freedom and Culture, and Leonard T. Hobhouse’s Liberalism. Through his work, Yaghoubi continues to engage with foundational questions in philosophy and literature, fostering intellectual dialogue across cultural and linguistic boundaries.
