Fateme Montazeri

Fateme Montazeri is a scholar of Persian literature. She holds a PhD from the Department of Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures at UC Berkeley and has extensive teaching experience in classical and contemporary Persian literature. Her research focuses on classical Persian poetry, Sufi literature, women’s writing, and questions of literary reception and canonization. She was a Bahari Fellow in Persian Arts of the Book at the Bodleian Libraries, Oxford. Her current book project examines the reception of Ḥāfiẓ across the early modern Persianate world. Montazeri is also a fiction writer. Her first Persian-language short-story collection, Gharb-e Arezou (Mehri, 2024), explores migration, displacement, and cultural continuity.
