Saeed Yousef started publishing his works (mostly poetry) in mid 1960s when still in high school in Iran. Until now he has published almost two dozen books that, besides poetry, include translations and books of literary criticism. He has also co-authored three books of Persian Grammar (with Hayedeh Torabi, published by Routledge in 2012, 2013 and 2018, second editions in 2020 and 2021). Yousef has a PhD in comparative literature from the University of Toronto (2004). He has taught at the University of Tehran (1979-80), the University of Michigan (2001-02), and the University of Chicago (2002-2020). His area of interests includes Persian literature, especially poetry (classical and modern); all issues related to the language of poetry and style; Persian prosody; history and culture of modern Iran.
