ʿĀʾishah Durrānī

ʿĀʾishah Durrānī, also known as ʿĀʾishah Afghān and (born Kabul, c. 1770s—died Kabul,  June 11, 1817), was an Afghan poet. Durrānī is remembered for the variety and the sheer volume of her poetic output; her first collected divan includes 3000 poems, many of which are written in the style of classical Persian poets such as Hafiz and Jami. She recited poetry in many forms including ghazal, rubāʿī, and mukhammas. Durrānī is Afghanistan’s first notable women poet who would consider herself as an ethnic Afghan.
