Afsaneh Habibzadeh Vahedyar

Afsaneh  Vahedyar holds an M.A. in Persian Language and Literature from Herat University, Afghanistan. She is a poet, writer, and Ph.D. candidate whose doctoral research focuses on the analysis of conceptual metaphors surrounding women in the works of three prominent Afghan women poets. For five years, she served as a faculty member at Kahkeshan-e Sharq University in Afghanistan, where she taught courses in Persian literature and literary criticism.

Vahedyar is the author of three books on poetry and literary criticism and has published eight articles in peer-reviewed international journals. She has presented her research as an invited speaker at several international conferences and has played an active role in two collaborative social science research projects, both of which were published as books in Afghanistan.

Her article “Conceptual Metaphors of Science in Rumi’s Masnavi-ye maʿnavi” was awarded first prize in 2024 by the Mowlana Foundation and the Ferdowsi Academy. Earlier, in 2020, she received second place in the literary criticism category at the Mavara Festival in Isfahan, Iran.

Alongside her scholarly work, Vahedyar is an accomplished poet, writing in both classical and modern forms. Her poetry gives voice to women’s emotions and sheds light on the struggles faced by women in patriarchal and traditional societies. Through both her academic and creative pursuits, she seeks to foreground women’s experiences and challenge restrictive cultural narratives.
