Abbas Panahi

Abbas Panahi holds a PhD in Iranian history and is an Associate Professor of History at the Institute of Gilan Studies and a member of the Silk Research Group at the University of Gilan. His research focuses on Gilan Studies, Caucasus Studies, and historical developments in Iran during the Safavid, Qajar, and Pahlavi periods. He has been recognized as an outstanding researcher at the University of Gilan for several consecutive years and was honored as the Outstanding Researcher in the Humanities in the province of Gilan in 2020. In 2021, he received the title of Outstanding Researcher in the province for his work on Qajar historical documents. Panahi has published extensively, including critical editions and analyses of historical documents, such as petitions from the people of Gilan submitted to the National Consultative Assembly, archival materials from Gilan during the First Pahlavi era, Minsha’at of Khan Ahmad Gilani, and documentary reports on the Jangal Movement and Russian interventions in Iran. His current research continues to explore these historical themes, contributing to a deeper understanding of Iran’s regional and transnational dynamics.
